The Power of Fiction Is Terrible
2025 · Direction · 16:9 · 14 minutes
María Finojosa, wife of the settler Juan de Cervantes, tunes in — on the fragile border between memory and life itself — to the exact moment her husband became obsessed with founding a town that would carry on his family name: in the middle of the nineteenth century, in the mountains of Cartago, Costa Rica. María's memory comes unstitched like the torn reel of an old film, projecting itself through the persistent rain, her husband's quixotic delusions, and the constant stalking of fiction's own fissures.
